Look at what people are searching for at Ask Jeeves. Almost certain to get a laugh from these questions!

Doh! Microsoft get hacked on their own servers. Ironically it is the server that posts updates to clients! SeeSafemode for a copy of the defaced website.

Want to find out emails or plans about someone? Then take a look at the eMailman finger lookup. Note that you won't always get information that is useable

It pays to complain! 1st May the Warner Bros Cinema in Stoke charged me full price despite it being Monday 11am. A complaint to Trading Standards and several follow up emails I got this response :- I visited the cinema and found your complaint to be justified. I have written to the cinema advising them of their obligations under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 and have given them advice leaflets on the subject matter.

I will revisit the cinema to ensure that the sign has been amended

Off to see Evolution tonight so will see what the sign says.......

byWell Demon support staff need to take lessons in geography. After waiting 45 minutes on hold for help, still not getting anyone answering the phone and then the account manager being permanently engaged, the dial up support staff say there are no problems.....until I mention the leased line is down. Story then becomes that the routers at Reading are down affecting all customers in Reading - When has Crewe been in Reading????? Still not fixed at 6.30pm - been down 6 hours now! (Not a big enough problem to post onto the status page apparently!

Oh so many things to moan about - but first a good one.

Discovered a photoblog at Photographica. The only downside is that the "links open in new window" open in a new window for each picture so you end up with tons of windows open.

Thanks Lockergnome

Bad news - I received a letter today saying that I was the winner of a free holiday in the canary islands - free flights and accomodation for one week - from a company called "Holidays Direct". Sounds too good to be true. Bit of searching on Google and I found that they are under investigation by Trading Standards Officers. The following were good clues:-

1 - Too good to be true

2 - Can't provide credit card, must be cheque - you don't get any consumer protection with cheques

3 - The mail gets forwarded from Bournemouth to Stafford - why?

4 - Other companies say they are in no way connected with this company - why would this be the case if they were not so dodgy?

5 - contact information is via a premium rate phone number!

Draw your own conclusions, but I'm not going on holiday anyway soon!

Well at least there is some good news. BT have introduced 1571 - which gives you (at long last) the ability to get messages whilst you are on the phone or net. As soon as our phone line is set up we will be using this so you can always get through to us on our home line. For more information from BT check out BT
